Peter said to him, "Explain the parable to us."And he said, "Are you also still without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into the mouth passes into the stomach and is expelled? But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person. For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false witness, slander. These are what defile a person. But to eat with unwashed hands does not defile anyone." Matthew 15.15-20
Nothing out there can make me do anything. My anger, my sin, my lust comes from within my heart. So if I focus on my heart being in deep relationship with Christ and allowing him to clean and reveal issues of my heart I will live free. So in a sexual perverse culture, I can be sexually whole. Lust comes from the heart but so does hunger for Christ! As our hearts are cleaned up and we have a passion to love Christ and draw near to our Father we will not see sin as an option!
Same goes with anything, anger? No one can make me angry, anger come from within me. Now if you mess with my kids, look out! But you know what I am saying. Living from the inside out puts the focus on my own heart issues. When my heart is pursuing him and him alone nothing can stop me. So live from the inside out...
